LifeLine Europe is built around the real situations English-speaking expats face across Europe — in France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal, and Ireland.
SOS Emergency Button
A pulsing red button on every screen draws your attention when it matters most. One tap starts a five-second countdown and dials 112 automatically. Your emergency contacts are auto-notified via SMS with your name, GPS coordinates, and What3Words address. The screen stays awake throughout the entire SOS flow — countdown, call, bystander, and cannot-speak views. An 'Open in Maps' button lets paramedics or bystanders navigate to your exact location via Apple Maps, Google Maps, or the web. If you cannot speak, a high-contrast white screen displays your medical details in bilingual French and English for paramedics to read at a glance, plus a one-tap button to text 114, France's official emergency SMS service.
Bystander Mode
If a French-speaking stranger finds your phone, they see a high-contrast full-screen display in French showing your name, blood type, allergies, medications, medical conditions, emergency contacts, and GPS location, with a large button to call 112. The screen stays awake so the display never dims. No language barrier. No delay. No password needed.
Paramedic Card & Personal Information
Your blood type, allergies, medications, conditions, and emergency contacts stored on your phone and displayed in French on a full-screen bilingual card. A prominent shortcut card on the home screen gives instant one-tap access to your Paramedic Card. Hand your phone to any doctor, paramedic, or pharmacist and they can read everything they need instantly. Includes a banner stating 'This person speaks English' and a legal disclaimer that the information is self-reported.
70-Plus Bilingual Phrase Cards
Eight categories of essential French phrases at the hospital, at the pharmacy, on the roadside, at the police station, and more. Each phrase shows the English, French translation, phonetic pronunciation, and audio playback. Tap to hear it spoken aloud, or show the French text full-screen to any French speaker. Search across all phrases and star your favourites for quick access. All phrases are cached locally with a green 'cached & available offline' indicator — or an amber badge when you're offline using cached data.

Plus a French driving requirements checklist so you are never caught without a gilet jaune or warning triangle.

Home Emergency Guides
Seven emergency types covered: water leaks, power outages, gas smells, lockouts, heating failures, security breaches, and general repairs. Each includes safety guidance, the relevant French phrases, and help finding a tradesperson. The gas smell alert includes a high-danger safety protocol because gas leaks are immediately life-threatening.
Smart Location System

If that also fails, guidance on French location conventions, bornes kilometriques, lieux-dits, departement names, and road markers, so you can always give emergency services something useful.

Pre-call triage, an active call screen with your GPS and medical summary for quick reference, post-call feedback, and a full incident history. Coming soon for Premium subscribers.

Going on a date? Walking home? Set a safety timer. If you do not check in before it expires, your contacts receive your What3Words location. Completely silent — no alarm, no noise.

Offline-First Design
Every core feature works without an internet connection. Calling, phrases, document viewing, profile display, constat filling, bystander mode. All phrase cards are cached locally with a clear green or amber indicator showing your offline status. Emergencies do not wait for Wi-Fi. When connectivity returns, background sync backs everything up to the cloud.
Multi-Country Support
LifeLine Europe covers France, Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal, and Ireland. Switch countries in settings and the entire app adapts — emergency numbers, phrase translations, local procedures, and system guides. One app for wherever you live in Europe.
Lone Worker Check-In
A configurable check-in timer from 15 minutes to four hours. If you do not respond, the app sounds an alarm. If you still do not respond, your next of kin receives an SMS with your What3Words location. A full audit trail records every check-in for employer compliance with lone worker safety regulations.
Workplace Accident Reporting
Nine incident types covered. Step-by-step bilingual guidance through the declaration d'accident du travail, the certificat medical initial, and the feuille d'accident du travail. Explains who is responsible for filing each document and the deadlines that apply. Covers accident du travail, accident de trajet, and maladie professionnelle.
What3Words Location
Every emergency SMS now includes your What3Words address — a unique three-word combination that identifies your exact location to within three metres. More useful than GPS coordinates, easier to communicate over the phone, and it works in places with no street address: building sites, rural fields, vineyards, forest paths.
Document Expiry Reminders
Notifications at 90, 60, 30, 14, and 7 days before any stored document expires. Carte de sejour, mutuelle card, car insurance, passport — you will always know what needs renewing and when.
Printable Medical Card
Generate a PDF of your bilingual medical information card and print it. Cut out the wallet-sized version and keep it with your carte vitale. If your phone is lost, broken, or out of battery, the physical card still works.
